2006 Welsh Championships

Arriving at the field around 8:30 am i found there was a few there all ready all mucking in with the duty at hand, the weather forecast was for a wet day with 10 to 15 mph wind forecast, well they correct there where a few showers through out the day and the wind was around 10 to 15 mph south westerly,

At the start of the tournament there where 23 competitors ranging from seniors to juniors all looking forward to having a good casting day,
the first 4 rounds where the 150 gram lead category, the first round started of with Nigel Hutinson having a cracking hit with a cast of 281 yards followed by Phil Jones and Chris braley on 265 yards and Adam Neil on 263 and Carl Jonathan on 261 yards it seemed that Nigel was of to a good start
The 125 lead category things changed hands again with Chris braley finding an excellent cast of 274 yards and Phil Jones hit 261 and Carl Jonathan hitting 257 and Nigel Hutinson casting 254 yards, the lead had changed hands again with cris braley having an advantage over nigel of 8 yards and Phil Jones and Carl fighting for a 3rd position
Right the third leg  was a choice of leads the competitors had to chose from either the 175 gram or the 100 gram things got really interesting on this round,
Starting of the first round saw Carl Jonathan and Chris Braley casting 259 yards on the 175 and Phil Jones casting 245 on the 100 gram but nigel made a mistake and  cracked off , the pressure was on
The light was now starting to fade so John Power the competition organizer decided that it was going to be the last round of the championships so it was all on the last round if any body was to pull any thing out this was it.
Well things changed again, Nigel went out of court on his last cast which meant that Chris secured the title and Carl secured second and Phil came third all in all a cracking day with plenty of dramas going on.
The second group winner was Adam Neil well done Adam on a cracking casting performance
And S, Tucker casting very well and winning the third group and doing some PBS as well, well done
The junior title went to E Thomas excellent well done
